Thinking of taking some time away from the office and spending quality time with the family? There are countless reasons why camping is the best holiday for families; however, I’ve managed to narrow it down to my personal top 5 reasons camping in the great outdoors is the superior holiday destination.

  1. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!

So cheap it needed to be written thrice.  If you’re holidaying on a budget, camping is for you. Camping is as simplistic as it gets, the beauty of camping is once you purchase the outdoor essentials such as: a tent ($100-$200), sleeping bags ($30-$50) flashlight ($10) and esky ($30) the subsequent trips will be significantly less expensive! Once you have these essentials you can plan last minute weekend trips as you please! Whether it’s a few days, a week or even more; it’s the most inexpensive family holiday and so much fun.

  1. Campfires!

There’s nothing better than sitting around a campfire with your loved ones, sharing stories, singing songs and of course… roasting marshmallows! These are the memories you can cherish forever. From infants to teenagers, a campfire is always a treat for the kids.  If you’ve got a keen musician in the family, an acoustic guitar always ensures great campfire singalongs.

  1. Fresh air

There’s nothing better than waking up with the sun, stepping outside your tent, inhaling the scent of the fresh green grass; all while taking in a deep breath of the crisp chilled air. The great outdoors is the perfect place to give your lungs the well-deserved break they require from the polluted city air. When asked, majority of Australians say their primary goal when taking time off is to recharge their batteries and relax; the fresh, clean air of the outdoors is the perfect way to do so.

  1. Peace and quiet

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is better on a holiday than peace and quiet. Removing yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city is a stress relief in itself. Ahh the serenity, the feelings of relaxation and peacefulness perfectly encapsulates the mood of a holiday in the great outdoors. It’s this tranquillity that makes camping the most enjoyable family holiday. The entire family can be well rested and well assured that they won’t be awoken in the middle of the night by the sounds of sirens, traffic or even by the glare of a street light. The only issue might be the blinding beauty of a night sky filled with stars.

  1. No reception

A family holiday is all about quality time, not quantity. Getting rid of the ever-present nuisance of technology is the best way to ensure productive family time. The blessing of no reception in the great outdoors is that it allows you to have an actual holiday, you have the ability to completely check out from work. Camping is a brilliant way to focus on bonding with the kids. A childhood shouldn’t revolve around video games and mobile phones, it should involve fishing, campfires, boating, hiking, exploring and more!

What a great post! To spend some quality time with the family is very important but it's always difficult to decide what to do. The next holidays are coming and now I surely know what to do with my children.
